Meta Centralizes Access to Facebook, Instagram, AI Glasses and More Apps

Meta said on Thursday that it has made moves to improve its Accounts Center — now known as Meta Account — thereby unifying access to Meta accounts across the company’s apps, such as Facebook, Instagram and Threads and devices like AI Glasses and Meta Quest headsets. The goal is to streamline the account management experience, and Meta says it will gradually roll out the upgrade over the next year.

A representative for Meta didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

Universal settings for Meta apps will be accessible through the Meta Account, where you’ll be able to manage the email addresses connected to your accounts and set a single password that controls access to all your accounts across Meta’s catalog. You can protect this master password with things like passkeys, fingerprint scanners, facial recognition software, or two-factor authentication, as well as passwords assigned to your actual device.

Meta Account will be a central hub for all your apps and devices.

WhatsApp passkeys will be managed independently within WhatsApp.

Similarly, app-specific settings, like the feature to customize who can see your Facebook posts, are solely a Facebook setting and will exist independently in that app and not be accessible in your Meta Account.

Meta Account includes parental controls that’ll let you monitor and manage your teen’s supervised account, whether it’s on Instagram, Facebook, Messenger or Meta Horizon, directly through the Family Center on Meta Account.

It’ll be your choice which apps and devices you want included in your Meta Account dashboard, and you can create separate Meta Accounts for them, too. You can also choose to opt out of using Meta Account and keep all your logins separate. It’s a customizable experience, and you can use it and manage as many accounts as you like.
