For Andre Adams, the Otago Volts assistant coach, it’s a return to the national women’s setup after having toured with the squad in 2017 and 2023. He will be an assistant to Brownlie, having recently added a stint with Birmingham Phoenix in the women’s Hundred to his CV.
“I’m really excited to be joining the White Ferns and looking forward to working with such a talented group of players,” Guptill, one of the most-capped New Zealand men’s cricketers with 367 international appearances between 2009 and 2022, said in a NZC statement.
“The White Ferns have achieved a huge amount in recent years and there’s a lot of exciting talent coming through. If I can help add a few extra tools to the players’ games and support their growth, then that’s something I’ll be really proud of.”
Adams, the medium-pace-bowling allrounder who played 47 times for New Zealand, primarily in ODI cricket, between 2001 and 2007, said, “It’s great to be back involved with the White Ferns. Having worked with the team before I know what a special environment it is and how much pride the players and staff take in representing New Zealand.
“Opportunities like this are exciting because you get to test yourselves against one of the best teams in the world, and we’re looking forward to taking that head on together.”
Brownlie has been appointed only for the three-T20I tour of Australia this month. The squad departs to Australia on October 12. They will play a warm-up game against a Governor-General’s XI on October 25, with the fixtures against Australia scheduled for October 18, October 20 and October 22, all at North Sydney Oval.
