The filmmaker and Oscar-nominated actress wore a coordinated suited set complete with wide-leg trousers and a long-sleeve jacket with a series of buttons running down the front placket. Slight fabric variation was created with a velvety statement collar and cuffs.

Gyllenhaal’s modern, minimalist look also included a set of loafers from The Row. As for accessories, “The Lost Daughter” filmmaker wore a pair of sunglasses by Ray-Ban and carried the Ginkgo clutch courtesy of Bulgari.

Gyllenhaal’s choice of The Row served as a sartorial statement to kick off the 2026 Venice Film Festival. As the president of the main competition jury, the filmmaker and actress will attend several premieres and screenings, so her introduction and official jury photo call moment marked a declaration of authority through power dressing.

That same sartorial prowess is one The Row has possessed since sisters Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen founded the New York City-based label in 2006. Over the course of the last 20 years, the sisters have modeled the brand as a key fixture in the quiet luxury market.

Known widely for pared back silhouettes and subtle power statements, The Row has become a go-to brand recently for stars like Dakota Fanning and Greta Lee, both of whom styled pieces from the label’s resort 2027 collection within the last two months.

With The Row as Gyllenhaal’s first official photo call garb, European exposure for the brand may widen. The ensemble, though, complete with Bulgaria and Ray-Ban, marked a starting point for Gyllenhaal’s authoritative role over the next several days.
