Northamptonshire captain Luke Procter has signed a new two-year contract with the club.

The 37-year-old all-rounder moved to Wantage Road from Lancashire, initially on loan, in 2017 before making his stay permanent the following year.

Procter has made more than 100 first-class appearances for Northamptonshire and made a career-best 261 not out in the second game of this season against Kent in Division Two of the County Championship.

“I’m delighted to be staying with Northamptonshire for another two seasons,” he told the club website., external

“I feel like it’s my home and I love representing the club and playing with all of the lads.

“I feel as though we’re building something special under the leadership of Darren (Lehmann – head coach) and to be able to be part of that means a lot to me.”

Northamptonshire are currently second in Division Two with two wins from their opening six matches of the summer.
