Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold’s pre-trial detention hearing is set for Monday at 9:30 a.m. ET.
Prosecutors will argue that Arnold, 23, should be denied bond and remain in custody until the case goes to trial. Arnold, a 2024 first-round NFL draft pick by the Lions, has retained Denver-based attorney Harvey Steinberg.

Arnold was arrested last Wednesday and is facing eight charges in connection to an armed robbery and kidnapping in Tampa. Arnold is accused of “coordinating and directing” the February armed robbery and kidnapping of multiple people.
If Arnold is denied bond, that would keep him from playing for the Lions during the 2026 season. It would also represent a multi-million-dollar consequence as Arnold is set to earn $2.098 million in 2026, per Spotrac. Arnold would earn $2.75 million in 2027.
If Arnold is not available for the next two seasons, the Lions could recover half of Arnold’s $7.251 million signing bonus, which would equal $3.6255. In order to recover a portion of Arnold’s signing bonus, the Lions can’t cut Arnold and void his guarantees. Once a player is released, teams forfeit the ability to collect unearned signing-bonuses.
Monday’s hearing could also determine that Arnold is eligible to be released on bond. The NFL could place Arnold on paid leave under that scenario.

Steinberg has represented a number of NFL figures over the years, including Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper in connection with multiple charges arising from an alleged domestic-violence incident.
Other former Steinberg clients include John Elway, Elway’s son, Jack, Kellen Winslow II, Jerry Jeudy, John Bowlen (the son of former Broncos owner Pat Bowlen), Brandon Marshall, Elvis Dumervil and former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan.
Arnold has denied any involvement in the incident through his representation.
“We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold,” a spokesperson for the Lions said in a statement to USA TODAY Sports last Wednesday. “We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process.”
