Latest Elden Ring movie leak features lettuce and one of the game’s most infamous characters

Filming of the A24-backed and Alex-Garland-directed Elden Ring movie (a series of words that still sounds preposterous to me) is now in full swing. And that means leaks, which this time include high-speed lettuce and an iconic opening moment involving one of the game’s most notorious characters.

Elden Ring publisher Bandai Namco confirmed a live-action film adaptation of FromSoftware’s fantasy hit was in development last year, and new details have gradually emerged since then. We recently got a cast list, for instance, which includes Jonathan Pryce, Nick Offerman, plus comedian, actor and FromSoftware superfan Peter Serafinowicz.

We also know A24 isn’t planning on skimping. The company – known for the likes of The Brutalist, The Zone of Interest, and Everything Everywhere All At Once – has set aside “well over” $100m USD for its Elden Ring adaptation, which is described as its “largest and most ambitious project” yet.

Filming is expected to last around 100 days, and has already begun. And inevitably, that means sneaky on-set leaks have started doing the rounds. The latest will be immediately familiar to anyone who’s played Elden Ring long enough to have witnessed its opening cutscene – and yes it’s the bit that probably elicited the exact same ‘Excuse me, what?‘ response from everyone. I do, of course refer to – and mild movie spoilers incoming, obviously – the moment the Loathsome Dung Eater is introduced by name, hanging limply from the gallows as nondescript projectiles arc violently through the air.

As shared by UnBoxPHD on YouTube, the newly leaked onset footage shows this exact same moment in live-action form, the Loathsome Dungeater being punished for his heinous crimes. First thing to note, the costume’s great with its authentically puckered orifices; second thing to note is the film’s clearly interpreting the game’s non-specific projectiles as assorted vegetables being pelted in the Dung Eater’s direction – I definitely spotted a whole lettuce there. But let me tell you, if the movie doesn’t include narrator Jimmy Livingstone rousing himself into a euphoric frenzy over that lettuce, just like he does in-game, I’ll be seriously miffed.

Elsewhere in the world of Elden Ring leaks, we’ve recently seen hints of familiar locations, and a glimpse of Marika that suggests the movie might concern itself with at least some of what came before The Shattering. We’ll know for sure, however, when it gets its official release in cinemas on 3rd March, 2028.
