Killing Fish in Ridiculous Ways Pushed This New Friendslop Game to the Top of Steam Charts

Following a successful launch weekend, Dazed Games’s How to Fish reigns on this week’s Top Sellers list on Steam. Friendslop games have become increasingly popular in recent years, as they are affordable, quick to jump into, and provide hours of knee-slapping fun among friends. Additionally, they tend to have unusual themes and not take themselves too seriously. How to Fish follows this pattern; its fun, quirky mechanics have caught the attention of gamers all over the world. As reported by Dazed Games on Steam, How to Fish sold 1 million copies in two days.

How to Fish is a relaxing fishing game where you and your friends are tasked with catching and selling fish to upgrade a boat so you can get back home. In this quirky game, players can get inventive when it comes to killing their prey thanks to the wide arsenal of weapons at their disposal, ranging from brass knuckles to SMGs and dynamite. A creature’s value increases according to its killscore multiplier, which is based on any impressive trickshots done while killing it.

As players make more money, they’ll navigate to islands with progressively harder catches. Even though the game’s mechanics are pretty straightforward — cast the fishing line, reel in the creature, execute it, sell it, repeat — some of the bosses can be hard to take down, which is what makes How to Fish challenging as well.

How to Fish has nearly 12,000 reviews on Steam, and it’s currently labeled as “Very Positive.” It is on sale throughout its launch week, so curious gamers can get it for only $4.95. On Aug. 28, its price will go back up to $7.99.

Two patches have already rolled out following its release to fix bugs and make balance changes to ensure that the game provides a fun experience for all. If you are hungry for more, there are plenty of friendslop games on Steam. Yapyap is another great option that’s broken into Steam’s Top Sellers as well.
