Kerry Washington went all white for the “Animals” premiere in Los Angeles on Thursday, using a zebra crystal clutch and a chunky black-and-white ring to break up a crisp, asymmetrical Carolina Herrera look.

The actress arrived at the Westwood Village Theater in a one-shoulder dress from the label’s resort 2027 collection, styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn. The white design featured an asymmetric neckline, a curved cutout at the waist and a long, straight skirt, with matching crisp, white pumps continuing the monochrome look.
Her accessories are what gave the structured look a playful edge. Washington carried what appears to be Judith Leiber’s Seamless Zebra Crystal Clutch in Silver, a rounded rectangular bag covered in black and silver crystals arranged in zebra stripes. On her right hand was David Webb’s Checkmate Ring, an oversize geometric design made from brilliant-cut diamonds, black enamel, 18-karat gold and platinum.

The two pieces shared a black-and-white palette without feeling matchy. The zebra clutch added pattern, while the ring repeated the color scheme through harder lines and blocks of enamel and diamonds.

Judith Leiber is familiar territory for Washington. She carried a metallic snakeskin clutch with Rodarte at the 2013 SAG Awards, followed by Leiber bags with Jason Wu at the 2014 Oscars and Mary Katrantzou at the 2015 Golden Globes. She also carried the brand at that year’s ACLU Bill of Rights Dinner and the 2016 Met Gala.

Washington’s dress came from Wes Gordon’s Carolina Herrera resort 2027 collection, which looked to Georgia O’Keeffe’s paintings and the desert landscape surrounding her New Mexico home, Sol y Sombra. Gordon told WWD he wanted to continue “making each piece something special,” with the collection moving between elevated daywear and evening. Peekaboo cutouts also appeared on red, yellow and blue gowns.

“Animals” is a political thriller directed by and starring Ben Affleck, alongside Washington. The pair play mayoral candidate Mark Kimball and his wife, Abigail, whose lives are upended by every parent’s worst nightmare: a kidnapping. With only a few hours to raise the ransom, they’re pushed to desperate measures. The film also stars Gillian Anderson, Steven Yeun, Gerardo Méndez and Adriana Paz, and begins streaming on Netflix Oct. 9.
