Always elegant, ever put together, Catherine, Princess of Wales has long been one of my go-to references for sophisticated style. This week, whilst attending the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, she stepped out in a summer colour combination that I haven’t stopped thinking about it since.
Forgoing the predictable pairing of black and white, nor the summer’s go-to butter yellow, Kate instead chose a refined combination of pale blue and deep chocolate brown. The fresh blue hue brought a light, summery feel to her look, whilst the deep brown accessories grounded the outfit, adding depth without the starkness that black can sometimes create against softer shades.

Layered over a white top and finished with tonal emerald earrings, Kate swept her hair back into a sleek ponytail, completing the look with the effortless polish that has become her signature.
Elegant without feeling fussy, blue and brown is the elevated colour combination I’ll be relying on all summer long. If you’re equally inspired, keep scrolling to shop my edit of the best blue and brown pieces to recreate the look.
