A 32-foot wall of books on stainless-steel shelves will pierce the lobby and mezzanine of a new 38-story residential tower in Mexico City, just one of the clues that the project bears the Karl Lagerfeld name.
The fashion house’s first such project in Latin America will house 73 residences, only two per floor, with expansive private terraces and a host of wellness and recreational facilities once completed in 2029.
Communal areas, including a private cinema, will be appointed with furniture from Karl Lagerfeld Maison, while quotes from the late German designer will be incorporated here and there.
Developed in partnership with Grupo Bosque Real, a specialist in high-end developments, the project was unveiled Thursday at an introductory event in Mexico City.

Bosque Real’s chairman Marcos Salame said it “reflects our shared ambition to create a completely new experience that feels contemporary, considered and relevant to luxury living today.”
“Karl never limited his creativity to a single discipline, and neither are we,” commented Pier Paolo Righi, chief executive officer of Karl Lagerfeld, calling the Mexico project “an exciting new chapter in our residential development journey, as we continue to explore how the maison’s design language can be experienced in new ways.”

There are already Karl Lagerfeld-branded residences in Lisbon, Marbella, Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah.
Interiors for the Mexico project are being developed in collaboration with One Atelier, with guidance from Caroline Lebar, creative director of interiors at Karl Lagerfeld. Architecture is by Jafif Arquitectos.
The new residences are located in Huixquilucan, and boast views of a golf course, other greenery and the Mexico City skyline.
Each three-bedroom unit boasts an expansive open-air terrace, and “generously proportioned dressing rooms,” a wink to Lagerfeld’s passion for Hedi Slimane suits and his bulging closets.
