Karen Read, along with her attorneys Alan Jackson and Charles Waters, exclusively join TODAY to speak out about their sweeping new lawsuit accusing Massachusetts State and Canton police of creating and tolerating a culture of bias and corruption, one year after a jury acquitted Read of the murder of her police officer boyfriend, John O’Keefe. “I had to fight for my freedom for years and I knew as it unfolded I was never going to be able to just forget that this happened to me, that I was wronged in this way. I couldn’t just go back to life as it was. I have to continue fighting for justice,” Read says.
