A federal judge has struck down a Texas law restricting drag shows, ruling that it was unconstitutional and telling those offended by the performances: “Just don’t go.”
U.S. District Judge David Hittner said in his ruling on Tuesday that the law, which made it a crime to present a “sexually oriented” performance on public property or in the presence of anyone under 18, violates the First Amendment by restricting free speech. The decision prevents Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) from enforcing the law.
