JK Boots Offers Spokane HQ to Firefighters Battling Local Wildfires

JK Boots, a Spokane Valley, Wash.-based footwear brand, is giving back to its local community that have been affected by the area’s recent wildfires.

Dubbed “JK Boots Home Front,” the three-part relief effort is built for firefighters holding the line and families who have already lost everything, the company said.

As part of the effort, firefighters can visit the company’s headquarters at 10220 East Sprague Avenue to get fitted and walk out in a new pair of JK boots. The company noted it will be giving away 50 pairs of handmade boots — a $25,000 value — to active firefighting personnel at no charge. JK noted that it’s also hand-delivering boots directly to firefighters at base camp when crews can’t get to its headquarters.

The company is also offering up its headquarters as a firefighter recharge station, where they can grab hot food, hot coffee, water, a place to wash up and cool off.

What’s more, on Wednesday, Aug. 5, the company will host “Home Front Day.” One hundred percent of profits from every sale, every store, every online and dealer order on the day, will be donated to the Innovia Foundation’s Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund.

“The fight came to our home,” Tim Khadzhi, co-owner of JK Boots, said in a statement. “We have spent many years making boots for the men and women who run toward these fires. They hold the line for us. This is the least we can hold for them.”

Nearly 65,000 people have been evacuated from their homes in Spokane County, according to the last report from CNN. No injuries or deaths have been confirmed, but the fires have consumed more than 8,000 acres with zero percent containment since they started on Saturday.
