JCPenney Retail Regrets Trade-In event

I usually write about travel deals, but I can appreciate a great deal on clothes and home goods, too — and this flash sale from JCPenney is worth a look.

With the “Retail Regrets Trade-In” event, JCPenney is helping shoppers turn retail regrets — clothing, shoes and accessories that you regret buying — into savings on something you actually want. Just bring any retail regret into a JCPenney location this weekend, Aug. 28 to 30, and you’ll get a coupon for $15 off a purchase of $50 or more.

Even better, all items will be donated to Good360, a nonprofit that distributes surplus goods to communities facing disaster, hardship and need across the country.

According to the deal terms, the $15 coupon applies to “select original, regular and sale-priced apparel, shoes, accessories, fine jewelry, watches, salon products, select JCPenney Beauty and home purchase of $50 or more…in store only, excluding taxes and shipping charges.”

The deal specifies one $15 coupon per customer. So, if you have multiple retail regrets you’d like to donate, you could bring family members or friends to get multiple coupons. Coupons are good through Aug. 30.

The $15 coupon cannot be combined with other coupons, but you can stack it with earned JCPenney CashPass Rewards and other deals like JCPenney’s Really Big Deals. Plus, you can stack even more savings if you have a DoorDash DashPass membership. JCPenney gift cards are currently available on the DoorDash Gift Card Shop, with a 10% discount for DashPass members.

You could purchase a $50 JCPenney e-gift card for $45 with your DashPass, then use it toward your in-store purchase with this weekend’s coupon — saving a total of $20 on your $50-plus purchase.

If you don’t have a single item you regret buying, I salute you, smart shopper. As for us mere mortals, there’s guaranteed to be something in our closet that fits the bill, whether it’s a shirt that never quite fit right or a pair of shoes that turned out to not be very comfortable.

Dig those items out this weekend, Aug. 28 to 30, and turn them into savings on something you can use — while reducing waste and helping people in need. Everybody wins with this JCPenney deal.
