Jackie ‘O’ Henderson has broken her silence to say she did “not quit or resign” from the Kyle and Jackie O Show, and she is “deeply saddened” the hit breakfast radio show may come to an end.
“I am deeply saddened by the events of the past week and the possibility of the show ending,” she said. “This has come as a shock to me, as it has to everyone else.”
Her statement appears to contradict the explanation given earlier this week by the broadcaster’s parent company, the Australian Radio Network, which said Henderson had “given notice that she ‘cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands’” and her contract had been terminated.
ARN told the ASX on Tuesday the Kyle and Jackie O Show had been taken off the air and Kyle Sandilands had been accused of “serious misconduct”.
“ARN has terminated the services agreement with Henderson Media Pty Ltd, under which Ms Henderson presents the Kyle and Jackie O show,” ARN said.
It is the first time Henderson has commented on the breakup of the $200m partnership between the two Kiis FM radio hosts since she left the show upset with the way Sandilands treated her two weeks ago.

Henderson indicated on Friday she would take legal action but did not detail her claim or who it was against. She alleged there was widespread misinformation in the media about her departure from the show.
“Over the past few days, there has been a lot of speculation and misinformation about my departure from the show,” Henderson said via her manager, Gemma O’Neill. “I want to make one important point very clear: I did not quit or resign.”
A fortnight ago Henderson became emotional after her on-air partner of 25 years, Sandilands, mocked her for her interest in astrology.
He accused her of not doing her job, of being “unfocused” and “off with the pixies” after she dissected the birth chart of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Henderson said in response: “I would never say things like that about you. It’s a total attack, it really is … to say: ‘You don’t know what the F is going on, you’re not doing your job.’ That’s an attack and I wouldn’t do that.”
She did not return to work the following week, and after 10 days ARN said the Kiis breakfast show would be taken off air effective immediately.
“The current media narrative does not reflect what actually occurred, and it has been truly heartbreaking to see how this has unfolded,” Henderson said on Friday. “At this stage, I am unable to say anything further, as I am addressing this through the appropriate legal channels.
“Thank you to everyone who has sent kind messages of support during what has been an incredibly challenging time.”
Each presenter signed a record $100m contract in 2023 for a decade of breakfast shows.
Sandilands is technically still under contract with ARN but has been suspended for 14 days because of his “serious misconduct”. He has not made any public statements.
Sandilands will need to show how he will “remedy” the alleged breach of its “services agreement”, ARN said, but his contract will be ended if he fails to find a remedy. The exact nature of the alleged breach and how Sandilands could remedy it remain unclear.
On another front, the licensee is facing enforcement action from the broadcasting regulator, which found last year the Kiis network repeatedly broadcast “vulgar” and “deeply offensive” content on the Kyle and Jackie O Show.
An announcement about an additional licence condition on Kiis is expected from the Australian Communications and Media Authority within weeks.
ARN declined to comment.
