Summary: Boody makes supremely soft, sustainable basics from bamboo viscose that are as gentle on sensitive skin as they are on the planet. After wearing their base layers and sweat set daily for two weeks, I can honestly say these are the softest clothes I’ve ever owned — and the ones I reach for first, every single time they’re clean.
What I Love
- Boody has genuinely the softest fabric imaginable, bamboo viscose is a game-changer for anyone with sensitive skin, eczema, or sensory sensitivities.
- Breathable and temperature-regulating, making each piece versatile enough to wear year-round and in unpredictable weather.
- Strong sustainability credentials: B Corp certified (scoring 48% above average), FSC certified, PFAS free, and OEKO-TEX certified.
- Packaging is fully home-compostable
- Designed for longevity and worn well over time
- Excellent for pregnancy, postpartum, and everyday comfort for highly sensitive people.
Things To Note
- Some pieces are slightly translucent when stretched, which may not work for everyone
- The sweat set runs long for petite frames; shorter shoppers should be prepared to account for length or let the fabric shrink in the dryer.
- The leggings and long sleeves are prone to slight pilling over time if not washed in a garment bag.
- The white colorway, while beautiful, isn’t the most practical for long-term wearability.
When I started honing in on responsibly made clothing nearly ten years ago, Boody was one of the first brands that genuinely impressed me. Their mission is simple: sustainable basics that are supremely comfortable and functional — no frills, just the essentials done really well.

I am a full-time working mother of two small children, a fashion and sustainability editor, and I’m also a highly sensitive person. This means I’m continually on the go, always keeping an eye out for brands that are pursuing mindful production and creating products that are gentle on the environment, and constantly looking for tools that allow me to navigate the world with a more regulated nervous system.
This combination of priorities can be a tough needle to thread, so I love to highlight brands that check all of these boxes. Boody has a unique way of doing just that. I wore their base layers and sweat suit every day for two weeks straight to demonstrate how I incorporate their pieces into my everyday life, and how they genuinely enhance how I experience life along the way. Here are my notes.
About Boody
Boody was born in Sydney, Australia in 2012, founded by two friends — David Greenblo and Neil Midalia — who set out to create a product that led with comfort, convenience, and sustainability. The brand started humbly with underwear and socks and has since grown into a full range of basics sold across 15 countries. Today, their sons Shaun Greenblo and Elliot Midalia serve as Co-Managing Directors, carrying the brand forward as a true family operation.
Boody makes soft, sustainable basics from bamboo viscose, which is the world’s fastest-growing plant, requiring only water to grow and no chemicals or pesticides to harvest. The brand holds a B Corporation score of 134.4 (48% higher than the average score), is FSC certified, PFAS free, and OEKO-TEX certified.

Their pieces are designed for longevity, keeping them out of the fast fashion cycle and out of landfills for as long as possible. They claim to be the most comfortable clothing brand, and after wearing various pieces from their collection over the last five years, I’m not inclined to argue.

Base Layer Long Sleeve Top, $39.95 | Women’s Ribbed Tank Top, $47.95
I won’t delay the punch line and I don’t say this lightly — these are actually the softest clothes I’ve ever owned!

The feeling of what’s against my skin has mattered all my life. Scratchy textures, tight waistbands, and stiff fabrics are a genuine source of distraction and stress in my day. I experienced significant eczema outbreaks as a child and learned to look at clothing labels before I’d ever even considered sustainability in adulthood. Then, after I had children, reducing my sensory input as much as possible was an important part of preserving my mental health. All of this means I live for comfort and filter all of my wardrobe decisions through this lens (if this resonates with you, you may be interested in checking out this self-assessment for highly sensitive people. Our founder, AmyAnn, recently shared a few habits that have helped her as someone who is navigating motherhood, a career, and daily life with a highly sensitive nervous system as well.)
Several years ago, and prior to this review, I purchased the base layer long sleeve and it is still the first thing I reach for every time it’s clean. The bright white is admittedly not the most practical colorway for longevity, but it suits my color profile and I can’t seem to quit it. While my first long sleeve didn’t survive early motherhood with an infant and a toddler, I plan to reference this guide to freshen up my whites as needed this time around. My friend has owned her Boody base layer in black for 10+ years.

For sizing reference: I’m 5’1″, 115 lbs, and a 34B.
Another note on the white: the fabric is slightly translucent, which may be a deterrent for some, but it isn’t enough for me to mind, personally. On the other hand, the tank’s slightly ribbed texture ensures that it’s fully opaque, so this is important to consider if you’re choosing between the smooth and ribbed options.
Base Layer Full Leggings, $30.95
What I love most about Boody’s basics is how breathable they are. This is also what makes them so versatile. I don’t feel cooped up in too many layers if the temperature trends upward, and similarly, I don’t feel chilled if it’s cooler than I anticipated. Each piece is light yet cozy. They just adapt, which is everything I want from a base layer.

The leggings are mostly seam-free with the exception of the inner leg and groin area. They fit like a second skin, which speaks to their comfort — but it’s important to note that this pair won’t sculpt or provide support. These are slightly see-through when stretched thin, particularly in the bum area when bending over. I generally wear these at home or while running light errands, and choose a more performance-friendly fabric when heading to a yoga class.
I’ve also noticed the leggings and long sleeves are prone to slight pilling after numerous washes if not cared for in a garment bag, so take care accordingly if you’d like to preserve your pieces as long as possible.
These are the pair of leggings I reach for when I need an extra layer, am unsure of how warm the weather might be, or while on my period. While I didn’t have them at the time, these would be an excellent choice for pregnancy and postpartum. On that note, I’ve worn and loved Boody’s underwear and bras for pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond, as well.

Women’s Quarter Zip Sweater, $109.95 | Straight Leg Sweatpants, $101.95
I was hesitant to choose this sweat set because I’m petite and was uncertain about how the length would suit me, but I loved it so much online and I went for it anyway.
I was right to be cautious — the legs were too long out of the box. But they were so comfortable and I wanted to wear the entire outfit while traveling, so I hiked them up, gave them a roll, and committed to keeping my quarter zip on.
“The legs were too long out of the box… so I hiked them up, gave them a roll, and committed to keeping my quarter zip on.”
Then, after a few wears, I took a gamble on washing and drying them — and now they’re the perfect length. The hips and thigh area is still a bit roomier than I’d like, but honestly, this doesn’t stop me from wearing and loving them. Petite shoppers, just know you may need to account for length!

Final thoughts
Boody is best for lounging, layering, and the slow, comfortable rhythms of everyday life. Whether you need comfort while working, function while snuggling little ones on the weekends, or ease while traveling, these are the clothes I live in.

If you’re looking for sustainable basics that will get worn dozens and dozens of times, look no further — and don’t forget to compost your packaging if you’re able!
