Ghosh made his IPL debut in dazzling fashion when he took a stunning diving catch at the point boundary on the eighth ball of the match to send back MI opener Will Jacks. When he came on to bowl, he dismissed Suryakumar Yadav in his second over by banging in a short ball at 133kph and having the batter caught at deep point.
Ghosh, a medium-pacer from Maharashtra, was first bought by CSK in the 2025 mega auction for his base price of INR 30 lakh but he didn’t get a game that season. He was retained for this year, and got his maiden IPL cap on Saturday, when CSK took down MI for the second game this IPL.
Ghosh is the fourth player and third fast bowler to be ruled out of the IPL for CSK, after Nathan Ellis, Ayush Mhatre and Khaleel Ahmed. CSK are yet to name a replacement for Ghosh.
CSK are currently sixth on the points table with four wins from nine games. Their next game is against Delhi Capitals on May 5 in Delhi.
