Indiana state senator who defied Trump over redistricting loses reelection bid, AP projects


Indiana State Sen. Travis Holdman will lose in his Republican state Senate primary, The Associated Press has projected, to Blake Fiechter, a candidate endorsed by President Donald Trump to punish Holdman for his vote against a redistricting plan pushed by the president last year.

Holdman is among seven state senators up for reelection who defied Trump and who faced primary challengers endorsed by the president. Trump threatened even before the vote to support primary challengers to anyone who voted against it.
