Hollywood sure sounds keen to make an Arc Raiders film

Apparently, there are many studios out there that are interested in making a film or TV show based on Embark’s shooter, Arc Raiders.

We live in an age where every game under the sun seems to be – at least in the eyes of producers – ripe for adaptation. These range from the likes of Amazon’s Toejam and Earl movie and a Vampire Survivor’s TV show (both of which are still to materialise), to acclaimed dramatisations like The Last of Us and Fallout.

And, well, it seems that Arc Raiders could be joining the ever growing list of games-to-screen releases, if it gets “done in the right way”.

Embark founder Patrick Söderlund was recently a guest on GamesBeat’s YouTube channel, when the subject of an Arc Raiders adaptation came up. “I can’t tell you how many companies have reached out to us wanting to make a TV series [or] a movie out of this,” the exec revealed.

When asked if he was tempted to go for it, Söderlund said it could be “fun” to see an adaptation of Arc Raiders. “It needs to be done in the right way,” he added. “I hope that we will do that.”

Closing down this train of thought, Söderlund said he believes the Arc Raiders “IP fits quite well with something like that”.

So, would you be keen to see an Arc Raiders film? I assume it would have to feature plenty of rubber ducks to be totally lore accurate. Also, would any adaptation be able to stand out from other already confirmed film projects like Helldivers and Call of Duty?

According to analyst estimates, Arc Raiders recently passed the 12m sales milestone, bringing in over $350m in revenue. Meanwhile, it was one of Steam’s best selling games over the festive period, thanks in part to a well-timed discount as well as an ongoing wave of positive word-of-mouth.
