Halo 2 and 3 Remakes are “definitely happening”, claims leaker

Halo 2 and 3 are “definitely happening and in active development”.

That’s according to Rebs Gaming, who revealed in an update over the weekend that “two more sources” have confirmed “Halo Studios is developing remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3”.

“One of my new sources sent me proof to verify themselves and that the trilogy remakes are definitely happening, regardless of how well Campaign Evolved does,” he said. “More specifically, active development is underway on all three remakes, and the Halo 2 and 3 remakes are in early development”. The three-minute report is embedded below.

He added that his source for the Campaign Evolved report sent an unreleased video clip of the game to verify themselves, but stressed “that these remakes are in early development”.

“Something I have not mentioned before is that they told me we will notice things from Halo 2 and 3 in the prequel missions, such as Brutes, because of the upcoming remakes,” he added, but emphasised that additional information about Brutes came from an unsubstantiated report.

“Their design is inspired by Halo Reach concept art, and their weapons include the Brute plasma rifle and the Spiker. Lastly, you can make Brutes appear in the original missions with one of the new skulls.

“Halo’s future is shaping up to be very entertaining. Besides from the remakes, a new multiplayer project – which was confirmed by a Halo Studios job listing, and a developer LinkedIn post – and the next mainline game […] all seem to be in development.”

As Xbox transitions into a new era under the leadership of new CEO Asha Sharma, former Halo boss Kiki Wolfkill, the head of film and TV at Xbox, left the company.

Wolfkill announced her departure on LinkedIn earlier this week, confirming she was leaving the company after 28 years. Before stepping into a transmedia-oriented role, she was a director of rt at Microsoft Game Studios from 1998 through 2007, and had previously served as executive producer for Halo 4 at 343 Industries.
