Forza Horizon 6 gets customisable interiors thanks to a modder who couldn’t resist swapping the seats of their beemer

Forza Horizon 6’s car customisation, while packing plenty of under-the-hood tweaks and a decent amount of bodykits, isn’t as in-depth as the likes of the Need For Speed series usually offer. The inability to mess around with your ride’s interior is one of the most noticeable omissions, to the extent it’s an area newly-announced racer Clutch is looking to get a leg up on Playground’s juggernaut in. In the meantime, a Forza modder’s managed to get some basic interior customision up and running on one of Horizon 6’s ten million motors.

With a good few Horizon 5 car tweaks under their belt, modder Smidgeee has released ‘Customizable Interior’. Currently, it takes some existing tiers of customisation for the 2014 BMW M4 Coupé and works some interior swappage into them, as well as allowing you to pick a certain colour for the car’s interior in the same manner you’d paint its exterior. For example, if you pick the third stage of interior upgrade which usually just installs a rollcage, the mod swaps the M4’s standard seats for those of Horizon 6’s cover car, the Toyota GR GT.

Meanwhile, the different levels of weight reduction swap the steering wheel, with Sparco and OMP racing ones being snapped into place at the highest ones. Paint wise, you can swap between leather and alcantara, then make the seats, dash, and door inserts all different colours if you fancy.

Naturally, it being limited to one car as of writing means you’re out of luck if you’re not into German motors synonymous with tailgating, but Smidgeee has made clear they plan the M4 to be the “first of many cars”. If they can get the mod up and running for a sizable swath of Horizon 6’s autos, I could maybe see myself foregoing online races to give their work a go. For now, though, I’m far too wedded to playing 4×4 hide and seek.

If you fancy giving the mod a go, the install instructions are as simple as extracting a ZIP file in the right place. If you’re open to giving Horizon 6 a go, and the BDS movement’s ongoing boycott of Microsoft over the company’s links to the Israeli military makes not doing so totally understandable, here’s my Forza Horizon 6 review.
