Former Tory chancellor Nadhim Zahawi defects to Reform UK | Nadhim Zahawi


The former Conservative chancellor Nadhim Zahawi has defected to Reform UK, Nigel Farage has announced.

Zahawi, who stood down as an MP at the last election, is the most senior former Conservative to join Farage’s party.

“We can all see that our beautiful, magical ancient island story has reached a dark and dangerous chapter,” said Zahawi, who said he was motivated by the imposition of high taxes and censorship. He acknowledged that many in his former party would be “surprised” by his decision.
