Former Titans edge Ali Gaye claimed by AFC South rival off waivers

On Thursday, the Tennessee Titans released a handful of players to make room for their undrafted rookie free agents (UDFA), and just one day later, one of those has already found a new home.

Former Titans edge Ali Gaye was claimed off waivers by division rivals, the Houston Texans, on Friday, ending his Titans career with nine tackles and a sack in 18 games over two seasons.

This will be Gaye’s second stint with the Texans. The defensive end spent all of 2023 on Houston’s practice squad and was waived at the end of training camp ahead of the 2024 season. A long pass rusher, Gaye will now have a shot to earn a backup role behind Will Anderson and Danielle Hunter for the stout Houston defense.

Gaye was released as the Titans made way for 11 undrafted rookies in this class, and those players were on the field Friday as Tennessee kicked off its rookie minicamp in Nashville.
