TORONTO — Five things to watch for in the Canadian business world in the coming week:

Outlook survey

The Bank of Canada will publish its business outlook survey and Canadian survey of consumer expectations on Monday. The report comes ahead of the central bank’s next interest rate decision and monetary policy report set for July 15.

Carney

Prime Minister Mark Carney is on the road this week as he heads to the NATO summit in Turkey on Monday before heading to Saudi Arabia later in the week. Carney will cross paths with U.S. President Donald Trump at the NATO summit for the first time since the U.S. said it would not renew its trade deal with Canada and Mexico in its current form.

Trade data

Statistics Canada will release its figures for international merchandise trade for May on Tuesday. Canada posted a surplus of $2.7 billion in April, its consecutive monthly trade surplus and the largest since January 2025, as higher prices helped push exports of crude oil higher.

Aritzia results

Retailer Aritzia Inc. will release its first-quarter financial results after the markets close on Thursday. The Vancouver-based retailer has been expanding in the U.S., where new stores have become a reliable source of growth and loyal new customers.

Job numbers

Statistics Canada will release its latest jobs report on Friday when it publishes its labour force survey for June. The Canadian economy added 88,000 jobs in May as the unemployment rate fell 0.3 percentage points to 6.6 per cent.
