First Look: LAX’s Oneworld Business Class Lounge Gets Major Refresh And Capacity Boost

Travelers passing through Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Oneworld will now enjoy the refreshed oneworld Business Class Lounge. This comes almost 12 years after the last major revamp. The new bespoke interior has a fresh Californian coastal design, and the overall footprint has been expanded, now accommodating up to 570 passengers.

The lounge is not just for Qantas flyers despite its Qantas detailing, with the lounge also hosting other foreign long-haul oneworld partner airlines such as British Airways and Cathay Pacific. Passengers traveling in business class and mid-tier fliers, who include Qantas Gold and Oneworld Sapphire, can enter the lounge if departing from the Tom Bradley International Terminal.

As explained by Executive Traveller, the lounge is a joint venture between Qantas, British Airways, and Cathay Pacific and boosts the alliance’s footprint at the airport for its premium-fare paying and frequent flyers. Other airline passengers who are eligible to use the lounge include Fiji Airways, Finnair, Iberia, and Qatar Airways.

Inside, upgraded flooring, paint, and other feature walls have enhanced the space with a brighter and fresher aesthetic, including a giant skylight that sits above the dining area. Those familiar with the lounge will recall the 1960’s design fire pit, which has remained a center point of the lounge area.

For those who need to remain fully charged, the installation of additional power outlets has been added, with a range of different types of seating, including formal tables and chairs, armchairs, and banquet seating, catering to whether guests are there briefly or for a long stopover on an international itinerary.

Visitors can access the lounge, which is located on Level 5 of the airside departures in TBIT. To be eligible to enter, you must be holding a business class ticket or a Qantas Gold and Oneworld Sapphire. Qantas lounge passes are not eligible at this location. The lounge remains open daily from 6:30 AM to midnight, catching all foreign oneworld departing flights from the airport throughout the day.

Once inside, the lounge offers a full bar service catering for a range of spirits, beers, wines, soft drinks, juice, and tea, while a barista station can provide the freshest coffee to your liking complementary. Those traveling with families will enjoy a dedicated family zone, and those looking to tuck into a meal before their flight will enjoy a smorgasbord of hearty food options or light refreshments. Showers are also available, with complimentary towels, soaps, and other amenities.

Flight information screens are dotted throughout the lounge, with other televisions broadcasting major news channels. Out the windows, travelers can enjoy the runway views.

While the new Oneworld Business Class Lounge at LAX is a joint venture between British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas, this means it does not sit as part of the two dedicated Oneworld-branded lounges. Currently, these two speciality lounges sit at Incheon International Airport (ICN) and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS).

These are located at these ports where not one specific airline in the alliance has a major presence, and the airport is well served by airlines across oneworld. In addition to these lounges, the Oneworld has over 600 lounges globally through its airline network.
