Ex All-Pro Reveals Aaron Rodgers Reason He Picked Steelers Over Texans

The Pittsburgh Steelers will wrap up the wild-card round of the 2025 NFL Playoffs on Monday night when they square off against the Houston Texans. The team has looked solid in their first season with Aaron Rodgers under center, but many folks aren’t giving them much of a shot against a red-hot Texans team.

In order for Pittsburgh to win this game, it’s going to need to get a vintage performance from Rodgers. Whether or not he’s capable of that is unknown, but former All-Pro defensive lineman Gerald McCoy certainly believes it’s possible. McCoy picked Pittsburgh to win, and his reasoning is pretty simple to understand: he’s a big fan of Rodgers, so he’s going to ride with him.

“I’m a Rodgers fan forever. Lone wolf,” McCoy said when explaining his decision to pick the Steelers over the Texans.

Rodgers started in 16 games for the Steelers this season, throwing for 3,322 yards and 24 touchdowns during his time under center. He’s not the same player he once was earlier in his career, but even at 42 years old, the future Hall of Famer has shown he still has a little bit of juice left in the tank this year.

The Texans’ defense is relentless, and if Rodgers doesn’t get into a rhythm early, it could be a long day for him. Not many folks are backing the Steelers to win, but McCoy is, and all eyes will be on these two teams when they square off on Monday night for a chance to advance to the divisional round of the playoffs.
