Evan Mock’s Apparel Brand Wahine Partners with Orb on Unisex Fragrance

The actor, who famously starred in HBO Max’s “Gossip Girl” reboot series, and his apparel label, Wahine, have teamed with Melbourne-based perfumer Orb to launch a limited-edition unisex fragrance. Priced at $149, the bottle, a translucent green mould, will be available exclusively on Revolve, under Fwrd, starting Friday and at orboils.com on Thursday.

Inspired by the sun-soaked, sea breeze setting, the oil fuses base notes of white musk, cashmere woods, dry amber and surf wax with bergamot, grapefruit, fresh citrus, marine accord, pacific air and salt. Its heart is a combination of hibiscus, cedarwood, coastal blooms and coastal greens. “It’s the perfect unisex blend. It seems feminine and flowery when you smell it, and then you drop it on your skin and end up getting more,” Mock told WWD via phone call, adding that Orb was the ideal partner to produce the scent with.

“Building [Wahine], the whole point, was basically trying to bring people that aren’t from Hawaii and have them experience more of a local idea and share that with them and show them the island magic of what Hawaii has to offer. It was great with [Orb] being from Australia because Australians understand,” he said.

Mock launched Wahine Honolulu with Donté McGuine in 2022 as an homage to his home. Today, the brand offers an expansive assortment of apparel and accessories, including flip-flops, tote bags, hats, belts and beach towels, all with a streetwear-meets-surf edge.

On why this was the right time to test the fragrance waters, Mock said: “We didn’t know much but we saw what Orb has made and what other scents they have, and the team seemed cool. It was a great opportunity.”

The campaign, shot by Aidan Cullen and filmed by Andy Woodward, was designed to further enliven the sensorial experience of O’ahu, Mock continued. In footage and stills taken from the film, Mock can be seen cruising a bike along the coast and lounging in the sand at sunset. “We shot it all here,” he said, referring to the North Shore. “It felt like a week, but it was two days of shooting. Everyone on set was a friend of mine, and so that’s kind of another big part of the reason why I started a brand: to be able to work with creative geniuses like my friends, like Aidan who shot it, and my little brother, who was in the campaign.”

As for whether more fragrance collaborations and creations are in Wahine’s future, Mock said: “I’ve been known for not ever closing doors and exploring everything, even if it’s foreign or different for me. Sometimes it’s a nice challenge and kind of cool to immerse yourself in something you don’t know.”
