Each week, airlines from around the world submit schedule changes to the likes of Cirium Diio and OAG. Alterations could include many things, such as new routes, eliminated markets, more or fewer flights, shortened or lengthened operating periods, different equipment, and more.
Emirates is no exception. In the latest update, the Gulf carrier has removed the Airbus A380 on flights between 
Dubai International Airport (DXB) and 
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), which is Europe’s fourth-busiest airport based on passenger volume. But the cut is only temporary.
Emirates Removes A380 Flights To Amsterdam In October
The carrier currently uses the double-decker quadjet to the Netherlands daily. The type was to continue flying there through the remainder of 2026. However, the latest information shows that things have changed, albeit not dramatically. The superjumbo will not serve AMS during October. The A380 will fly to AMS through September 30, be redeployed elsewhere in October, and return on November 1. The updated schedule for October is as follows.
The three-class, first-class-equipped, 517-seat A380 (not the ‘famous’ 615-seater) was to operate. This will now be flown elsewhere, but not to Beijing Capital or Osaka Kansai, as other configurations will be used. The superjumbo has been replaced by the three-class, first-class-equipped, 360-seat Boeing 777-300ER to AMS. Premium economy is not currently available to AMS.
Until last week, 70,202 round-trip seats were planned for this route in October. Now 60,468 will be available, which is a drop of almost 14%. Due to far smaller cabins, the number of business class seats has fallen by 23%, while first class is down by 22%. Economy capacity has fallen by 12%, but obviously from a much bigger base. More than 7,300 economy seats have been removed.

Emirates Doubles A380 Flights To Amsterdam From November
Recall that the superjumbo is due to fly to AMS until September 30 and return on November 1. When it is back, the equipment will be deployed on two daily services during winter 2026/2027. While this was already the plan, it is noteworthy, albeit not overly unusual.
Emirates had two daily Airbus A380 flights to AMS last winter too. In fact, the type was used twice daily for all of 2025. 730 departures were available, which was the highest number since 2019. The ongoing war in Iran has contributed to that number falling by 36% to 466 in 2026. That’s the sixth-highest number since the A380 was first used from DXB to AMS in 2012.

Amsterdam Is Emirates’ Joint-Fourth Most-Served European Airport For A380 Flights
Let’s narrow the focus to November 2026 to February 2027. In these few months, Emirates will have two daily A380 departures to AMS. As such, Europe’s fourth-busiest airport for passengers will be the Gulf giant’s joint-fourth most-served European airport for superjumbo activity.
Obviously, 
London Heathrow Airport (LHR) will be first (six daily), followed by Manchester and Paris CDG (three daily each throughout the period examined). London Gatwick is third (three daily, but the A380 is not due to return until December 1). Then there’s AMS, Milan Malpensa, Moscow Domodedovo, Munich, and Zurich (two daily flights each). One of Milan’s services will continue to New York JFK.
