Emirates is rolling out upgrades to its global network of airport lounges, found at various destinations the airline flies to. This initiative initially begins with five of the airline’s airport lounges, of which two have already seen the upgrades being completed. These are the airline’s lounges based in Frankfurt and Munich.
With the airline investing around $14 million (AED 50 million) on each lounge upgrade, the carrier’s premium passengers utilizing these lounges will definitely have a noticeable difference in the experience. The remaining three lounges are expected to be upgraded within the next four months.
Emirates Upgrades Its Airport Lounges
Dubai-based Emirates operates a network of Emirates-branded airport lounges around the world. Excluding the airline’s own hub at
Dubai International Airport (DXB), the airline has its lounges at 30 airports around the world. Of these, the airline is rolling out refurbishments and upgrades on five lounges (initially) worth up to $14 million each. Two refurbishments have already been completed, while the remaining three lounges are brand-new lounges that are being introduced to the airline’s network by October.
The two lounges where the upgrades have been completed include the airline’s lounges at Emirates’ German gateways of
Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and
Munich Airport (MUC). The upgrades include new interiors and furnishings, while also offering elevated dining experiences for the airline’s premium passengers. As per the airline’s press release, the lounges are also designed to create passenger zones, designed for specific purposes, such as dining, relaxing, quiet spaces, working and more.
It is stated that there will be a resemblance between the new lounge interiors with that of the airline’s latest cabin designs. Examples include the presence of the Ghaf tree design, which is the national tree of the UAE, which are also found on the airline’s aircraft with the latest cabins. Emirates’ Deputy President and COO, Adel Al Redha, states,
“Our investment in our next-generation signature lounge concept reflects Emirates’ continued commitment to delivering a seamless, premium experience at every stage of the journey.“

Which Are The Other Three Lounges?
As stated above, the first two lounges that underwent the upgrades and refurbishments are the airline’s lounges in Frankfurt and Munich. As part of the initial upgrades, the airline will be introducing three new lounges, with the upgrades already incorporated into its lounge network. These are the airline’s upcoming lounges in Manchester, Mauritius, and Istanbul.
The lounge in Manchester will be the next to offer the upgraded experience for the airline’s first and business class passengers, starting sometime this month. As for the lounges at Mauritius and Istanbul, the upgrades should be completed and available for passengers to experience starting in August and October, respectively.
Overall, these lounges will be undergoing over 50 design enhancements as part of this refurbishment program. The airline has stated that the upgraded lounge designs will be gradually introduced to more of the airline’s lounges around the world, and it will set a new benchmark for airport lounges designed for premium passengers.
