Jalen Hurts threw three touchdown passes, Dallas Goedert scored twice, and the Philadelphia Eagles stopped a late two-point conversion to defeat the Washington Commanders 24-22 on Sunday. Hurts completed 14 of 25 passes for 203 yards without an interception. He added 48 rushing yards, including a 22-yard run on third-and-17 that kept Philadelphia’s decisive fourth-quarter drive alive.

Goedert finished the possession with a 43-yard catch-and-run touchdown, giving Philadelphia a 24-16 lead with 6:02 remaining. He caught four passes for 77 yards.

Washington answered with Jayden Daniels’ second touchdown pass, cutting the lead to 24-22 with 1:01 remaining. The Commanders attempted a shovel pass to John Bates on the two-point conversion, but Moro Ojomo diagnosed the play and stopped Bates before he reached the goal line. Dontayvion Wicks caught two passes for 73 yards, including a 9-yard touchdown. Saquon Barkley rushed 15 times for 83 yards and broke free for a 42-yard gain.

Philadelphia’s offense struggled throughout the third quarter, opening the second half with three consecutive three-and-outs. The offensive line allowed three sacks, and Landon Dickerson surrendered three pressures.

The defense kept Philadelphia in front. Zack Baun recorded 12 tackles, Jihaad Campbell collected his first career sack, and Jalen Carter blocked an extra point. Daniels finished with 164 yards and two touchdowns as Washington accumulated 295 total yards. Philadelphia improved to 1-0 despite being outpossessed by nearly seven minutes.
