Dwayne Johnson Says ‘Moana 3’ is in The Works

Dwayne Johnson is not a man afraid of making big announcements, and he’s naturally especially chatty while out on the promotional circuit.

While doing the rounds for the live-action take on ‘Moana’ (in which he reprises his previously voice-only role as demi-god Maui), the star has said that Disney is developing a third animated outing.

“The ocean chose her for a reason.”

Run Time: 1 hr 55 min

Budget: $250,000,000

There has so far been no official word from Disney on that front, but if the new ‘Moana’ performs well at the box office, we wouldn’t be shocked to learn that a new animated offerings is making waves at the studio.

‘Moana 3’: Dwayne Johnson talks

No one yet knows what the new movie’s story might be, but here’s what Johnson had to say while promoting the latest film in Brazil:

“Yes, we have talked about ‘Moana 3.’ But first, live-action ‘Moana,’ we’ll let that come out first. We have the amazing Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller, who have been our writers… they will pen ‘Moana 3.’ ”

When might ‘Moana 3’ arrive on screens?

All that depends on A) whether it actually happens, B) how far along it is and C) Disney figuring out a release slot for it. Animated movies typically take years to produce, so don’t go hoping it’ll be ready for 2027.

But if you need your Maui and Moana fix, the live-action film docks in theaters on July 10th. What can we say, except… you’re welcome!
