Doublelift reflects on iconic MSG moment and teases his next chapter in League

Retired League of Legends pro Yiliang ‘Doublelift’ Peng is setting his sights on hosting live events, pulling from years of experience on stage and in the spotlight.

Speaking with Dexerto, Doublelift recalled one of the most unforgettable moments of his competitive career, walking out on stage at Madison Square Garden before facing TSM.

“We’re all pretty nervous, and then Rick Fox is with us backstage,” he explained. “He basically comes up to us and says, go out on stage and look out in the crowd and just take it in… They’re there to watch you play and just enjoy that.”

The moment helped him lock in. “I had never really fully understood what it really meant. It’s kind of incomprehensible when you look out and there’s tens of thousands of people. That definitely got me to recenter.”

What’s next for DL?

He went on to win eight LCS titles in five years, calling that era a “beautiful chapter” of his life. Now, his focus is on content and community.

“When it comes to making content for me, it feels so good,” he said. “The fact that I have a dedicated fan base is probably my primary motivator… You have to keep trying stuff. You have to keep thinking about what do people want to see.”

Looking ahead, Doublelift wants to host his own live League of Legends tournaments featuring iconic names from the scene.

“I’m honestly mostly thinking about it being a league tournament with a lot of the old names and faces,” he said. “I don’t get stage fright. I feel really comfortable being the center of the content.”

With deep industry ties and a strong connection to the community, he believes he’s in a “really unique position” to make it happen.
