If you’ve been hungering for something gothic as we inch towards October, the scariest month of the year, then you’re in luck. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is getting a demo you’ll be able to sink your fangs into soon.

Developer Evil Empire – known for its work on Dead Cells and the similarly styled Rogue Prince of Persia – has announced its Belmont’s Curse demo arrives on 1st October, coming to Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Those who chose to download it can play through the entire first chapter, with any progress made carrying over to the game’s full release on the 14th October. Expect 60FPS across all platforms except for the Switch, where 30FPS is the target.

This demo chapter is the same portion of Belmont’s Curse experienced by previewers earlier this year, including me! In Eurogamer’s own preview, I came away thoroughly impressed by what I played: Rose Belmont’s adventure seemed to be a fantastic blend of old and new action-platformer trends. Whether or not the rest of the game stands up to this stellar first impression is something we’ll all find out next month.

Belmont’s Curse is set to be the first of multiple Castlevania projects coming from Konami, though what exactly else the company has in store for the series remains a mystery for now. It’s clear that since the popular Netflix adaptation reignited interest in the series there’s been a newfound push to revive Castlevania. One can only hope Konami manages to do as well with this classic series as they have with Silent Hill, with Silent Hill: Townfall standing strong as yet another solid entry for horror fans.
