LONDON — A smash-and-grab hit Saint Laurent‘s flagship on London’s Old Bond Street on Friday.
Footage of the crime scene, with the store windows smashed into pieces and the metal security shutter badly bent, began to circulate on social media platforms X and Xiaohongshu in the morning. More recent images showed that the police arrived around noon to investigate the break-in.
The extent of the damage remained unclear, and WWD has reached out to Saint Laurent for comment.
A similar incident took place on Wednesday, when armed robbers raided Rolex‘s Knightsbridge shop, also in the morning.
According to the Metropolitan Police, six suspects wearing motorcycle helmets visited the store, with one entering and threatening staff and members of the public with weapons, including machetes. They took a number of high-value watches. No injuries were reported.
Detective chief inspector Scott Mather from the Met’s Flying Squad said the officers are working to identify and arrest those responsible.
“This robbery was carried out in a busy part of London, and we understand the alarm it has caused. Our officers were on scene within minutes, and investigators are working at pace to piece together the offenders’ movements. We are determined to find those involved and bring them to justice as swiftly as possible,” he added.
