David Koma Pre-fall 2026 Ready-to-Wear Runway, Fashion Show & Collection Review

For the first time, David Koma dedicated his entire pre-fall 2026 collection to what potentially could be a major pop culture moment this June — the upcoming “Supergirl” movie, starring Milly Alcock.

The designer was granted access to the DC archive, bringing illustrations from Supergirl comic books circa 1959, and feeding them into the world the fabulous Koma women inhabit.

“I was very excited about this particular collaboration, but this wasn’t simply about expanding their portfolio. It’s about channeling a specific, empowering narrative grounded in reality rather than fantasy,” Koma said during a preview.

“When I was thinking about the pre-fall, I had in mind all those incredible women that I worked with throughout the years, who are pure supers in their own rights,“ he added.

In true Koma style, the pre-fall collection balanced glamour and sensuality with a touch of rebellious attitude. The daywear section featured sharp tailoring with oversized shoulders and cinched waists, emphasizing femininity, as well as sculptural puffers and statement faux fur coats as power play. The evening numbers in shimmering gold and transparent gray were both structural and fluid, sitting on the body as if they were symbiotic, armor-like second skins.

The Supergirl elements provided the right amount of kitsch for the collection to appeal to the masses as well as the more discerning Koma girls. Cue the hero items: a blue Superman logo T-shirt embellished with sparkly crystals, S-shield cutout triangle mohair knits with cropped waistlines, and ruched cutout dresses in Supergirl’s signature colors of red and blue.

Released in the form of a look book, the collection was showcased on top model Yasmin Wijnaldum. “She perfectly embodies this superwoman I am designing for, someone who doesn’t perform strength and power. It just exists, and you kind of acknowledge and admire,” Koma said.
