‘Daredevil: Born Again’ to End With Season 3

Bad news for fans of the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ will end with next year’s third season.

The news comes a couple of months after the season wrapped shooting, with sources reporting that cast and crew were informed of the decision.

In an interesting wrinkle (especially for a show that has already been through one big creative reset), showrunner Dario Scardapane’s contract came up for renewal during post-production, but Disney/Marvel chose not to retain him, so someone else will oversee the remaining elements of post.

What’s the story of ‘Daredevil: Born Again’?

The series brought back Charlie Cox’s blind lawyer Matt Murdock, who moonlights thanks to super-powered other senses as the vigilante Daredevil. ‘Born Again’ once more saw him clash with Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) AKA the Kingpin, who maneuvered his way into becoming mayor of New York.

Season 2 brought back fellow Netflix Defender Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and ended with Matt being sent to prison.

What does the future hold for Marvel’s TV series?

The future is cloudy right now. We have ‘VisionQuest’ landing next month, then Season 3 of ‘Born Again’ will arrive next March.

But there is chatter that the company just greenlit a spy thriller referred to as ‘Zodiac.’ Nothing is official yet, but the most notable Marvel comics reference is to a criminal organization headed by a villain named Scorpio that featured bad guys themed to the constellations. In the comics, it was known for going head-to-head against S.H.I.E.L.D.,

And there are other shows lingering in development, though Marvel has signaled a desire to pare back its TV content to return focus to the big screen outings.
