CS2 pro Aleksib facing suspended prison sentence over alleged tax fraud

Counter-Strike 2 pro Aleksi ‘Aleksib’ Virolainen could face a four-month suspended prison sentence in Finland after being accused of failing to declare €53,000 in income from CS sticker sales.

The NAVI player is facing allegations of aggravated tax fraud relating to his earnings in 2020, when he was competing for OG.

According to Finnish outlet Iltalehti, prosecutors claim Aleksib failed to report the income on his tax return, allegedly avoiding approximately €28,000 in taxes.

The NAVI captain has reportedly acknowledged that the earnings were not declared but maintains that he did not know the money was subject to taxation.

Aleksib accused of failing to declare CS sticker earnings

The allegations center on money Aleksib received through Counter-Strike sticker sales, which allow players and teams competing at Majors to earn a share of revenue from in-game purchases.

By 2020, Aleksib had competed at two Majors with ENCE, including the IEM Katowice 2019 Major, where the Finnish roster reached the grand final.

According to court documents reported by Iltalehti, authorities allege that Aleksib deliberately omitted €53,000 in sticker revenue from his 2020 tax declaration.

However, the player reportedly disputes that the omission was intentional, arguing that he was unaware the sticker earnings needed to be reported as taxable income.

Prosecutors are seeking a four-month suspended prison sentence, meaning Aleksib would not immediately serve time in prison if convicted and the sentence were imposed. Instead, he would be required to comply with the conditions of the suspension.

A video circulating on social media also claims to show Aleksib appearing before a judge in connection with the case, although the footage has not been independently verified.

A final ruling has yet to be announced, and Aleksib has not been convicted of the alleged offense.
