Crimson Desert developer Pearl Abyss today announced it’s delaying Charting the Unknown, the game’s first post-launch add-on. Previously set for release 15th October, the DLC’s release date has been pushed back to 29th October – a two-week delay.

“We are hard at work on Crimson Desert Enhanced: Charting the Unknown to bring you new adventures to Pywel. However, we have determined that we need additional development time to deliver a more polished and stable gameplay experience,” the developer said in a note posted on X.

Charting the Unknown was surprisingly announced early last month during a Sony State of Play presentation. Although we’d known Pearl Abyss was working on some sort of add-on for some time, September’s reveal was the first confirmation of it, and our first look at it.

Charting the Unknown brings new destinations to the continent of Pywel, chiefly allowing players to explore the ocean through ships and underwater adventures. The journey will take players to new islands off the coast of Pywel, where new stories featuring protagonists Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane will unfold.

The add-on also includes new features such as an upgraded house-building mechanic, the ability to manage and rent facilities to earn cash, and a system that lets you grow your bonds with NPCs.

“We know many of you have been looking forward to returning to the game and we sincerely apologise for the longer wait. We will use the additional time to further refine the content and do our utmost to deliver the best experience we can,” the developer added.

Charting the Unknown is priced £19.99 / $24.99. It’s available for all versions of the game, except for the Mac App Store version.
