CPL 2026, GAW vs TKR 33rd Match Match Report, September 11, 2026

Guyana Amazon Warriors 127 for 4 (Hope 42*, Narine 1-13) beat Trinbago Knight Riders 126 for 8 (Greaves 35, Mehidy 4-23, Shamar Joseph 2-27) by six wickets

It was Amazon Warriors’ eighth win in nine games this season and their 100th CPL win overall, and strengthened their position at the top of the table.

Mehidy struck twice in the fifth over – removing Colin Munro and Nicholas Pooran with back-to-back deliveries – and finished with 4 for 23 from his four overs after Amazon Warriors had opted to field. This was Mehidy’s second game after he joined Amazon Warriors as a replacement for Mohammad Nabi, and he has seven wickets for the cost of just 36 runs from them.

Knight Riders, who had raced to 43 for 2 in the powerplay, lost wickets regularly thereafter and finished on a paltry 126 for 8. Justin Greaves top-scored with 35 off 37 balls, while Munro made 26 off 16.

Amazon Warriors’ chase was steady rather than spectacular. They lost Mavendra Dindyal and Glenn Phillips inside the first seven overs, but Hope held the innings together. He added 51 with Shimron Hetmyer, who struck three sixes in his 28 off 19, to put Amazon Warriors in control.

Hetmyer fell in the 13th over and Mehidy was dismissed for 2, but Hope stayed unbeaten to see his side home alongside Quentin Sampson, with the target achieved in 18.4 overs.

The result meant Knight Riders, the defending champions, finished at the bottom of the table after their seventh loss in this CPL.

For Knight Riders, Kieron Pollard moved to 14,999 T20 runs when he scored 10 before being dismissed in the final over. He now needs one run to become the first batter to reach 15,000 runs in men’s T20 cricket.
