CPL 2026, BT vs GAW 35th Match Match Report, September 13, 2026

Barbados Tridents 100 for 4 (King 44*, Descarte 32, Mehidy 2-25) beat Guyana Amazon Warriors 99 (Phillips 24, Layne 3-14, Ghazanfar 3-17, Linde 2-13) by six wickets

The result didn’t alter any positions on the points table, with Amazon Warriors finishing the league stage at No. 1, followed by Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, and then Tridents and Jamaica Kingsmen. Tridents and Kingsmen will now face off in the Eliminator, while Amazon Warriors will face Falcons in Qualifier 1. Both those matches, as well as the remaining playoff fixtures, will be played in Bridgetown.

Tridents opted to field on Sunday in Bridgetown, and the excitement started in the third over, and it was all to do with Player-of-the-Match Ghazanfar. Third ball, he had Mavendra Dindyal stumped by Quinton de Kock; fifth ball, Shai Hope was out caught playing a tame shot to a hit-me ball; sixth ball, Shimron Hetmyer was caught by de Kock off the inside edge.

At the end of that over, Amazon Warriors were 15 for 3, and they never recovered, with the powerplay giving them only 30 for 3.

Glenn Phillips, who had opened the innings, was still out there, and batted till the eighth over, but he only had 24 from 23 balls to show for his efforts when he was sent back by George Linde, who was super effective in his four-over spell, returning 2 for 13.

Phillips’ remained the top score of the innings as wickets continued to fall, with quick bowler Johann Layne bagging 3 for 14, and the innings was over in 18.1 overs.

A target of 100 wasn’t going to test Tridents, and Brandon King ensured nothing went off-kilter for them with an unbeaten 42-ball 44 at the top. Tridents lost four wickets, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz taking his tally to nine from just three games, but King got good support from Shadrack Descarte, the No. 5, as the two added 41 in 30 balls before Descarte was dismissed for 32 in 20 balls.

King and Kevlon Anderson finished the game from there.
