Chloe Sevigny Stars in Dr. Martens ‘With Bouncing Soles’ Campaign

Dr. Martens has enlisted actress Chloë Sevigny to take the spotlight its newest campaign.

The spot, dubbed “With Bouncing Soles,” is a play on the three words stitched onto the heel loops of Dr. Martens boots since 1960. Since the first 1460 boot rolled off the production line that year, the words “With Bouncing Soles” have appeared on every Dr. Martens heel loop. Originally a reference to the brand’s signature air-cushioned sole, the phrase has grown in meaning over decades.

Now, in its newest campaign Dr. Martens is focused on asking, “What Makes Your Sole Bounce?” Along with Sevigny, the U.K. footwear firm also tapped musician, writer and mental health advocate Jordan Stephens; comedian and entrepreneur Naomi Watanabe, and many more Dr. Martens community advocates across the world. Each offer their own answer to the aforementioned question.

For Sevigny, she noted that staying curious makes her sole bounce. “Taking on new roles, finding inspiration in unexpected places, and always being open to what’s next,” the “Feud: Capote vs The Swans” star noted. “I’ve always been drawn to pieces that become more personal the longer you live in them, and Dr. Martens has always represented that for me.”

For Stephens, the musician said that he has worn Dr. Martens throughout his life, so being part of this campaign “feels genuinely authentic.”

“What makes my sole bounce? Words,” Stephens added. “They continue to open up new ways of seeing, feeling and understanding the world. I love that the campaign plays with the idea of sole and soul because creativity often lives in those layers of meaning. Dr. Martens has long been a symbol of individuality and self-expression, and I’m proud to support a campaign that celebrates the people and spaces keeping culture alive.”

And while the campaign aims to celebrate the human stories of “With Bouncing Soles,” it remains grounded in footwear, showcasing five of the brand’s most iconic silhouettes — the 1460 boot, 1461 shoe, Adrian loafer, 2976 Chelsea boot and 8065 Mary Jane.

Dr. Martens noted that each of these styles were reimagined in Crazy Horse leather, including a new Cherry Red finish for fall 2026. Alongside this, the 1460 boot, 1461 shoe, and 8065 Mary Jane will be available in new Dr. Martens’ Green editions.

Neil Cummings, global brand creative director at Dr. Martens, added that “With Bouncing Soles” becomes the “creative thread” that connects the people who have shaped the company with a new generation discovering the brand for themselves.

“It’s an invitation for people to celebrate creativity, individuality and the confidence to express who they are,” Cummings said. “What makes a bouncing sole? In some ways, taking the time to ask is just as important as the answer.”

The new campaign will come to life through a series of events include a bespoke leather studded keychain workshop with Maximum Henry at Dr. Martens SoHo retail location on Oct. 6 and a celebration co-curated by local campaign talent photographer, director, and visual artist Sophia Wilson on Oct. 8.

The “With Bouncing Soles” campaign is now live, with the Crazy Horse Icons collection available to buy in Dr. Martens stores, at Drmartens.com and selected Dr. Martens retail partners.
