They say the child is about five years old and was taken to hospital. The bite was not life-threatening.

Police say residents should be cautious in parks in the area of McCowan Road and 16th Avenue in Markham.

They said last week that a coyote bit a 16-year-old girl in the area of Mingay and Bur Oak avenues and she was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
