Chanel’s Bruno Pavslovsky Steps Down as President of Fashion

PARIS – Bruno Pavlovsky has resigned from the board of Chanel Limited, but remains in his role as president of fashion at Chanel and president of Chanel SAS, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

“We confirm that Bruno Pavlovsky has resigned from the board of Chanel Limited,” Chanel said in a response to a request from WWD.

“This latest move marks the completion of the board’s evolution towards a composition of independent directors, bringing diverse external expertise and perspectives, while retaining executive representation through the global executive chairman and global chief executive officer,” it added.

“Bruno Pavlovsky remains fully committed to his role as president of Chanel’s fashion activities and president of Chanel SAS,” Chanel said.

The executive, who was worked alongside three of Chanel’s four official creative directors, is the last of a generation of senior executives to remain in place, following the arrival in 2021 of Leena Nair as global chief executive officer of Chanel.

Pavlovsky joined Chanel in 1990 from consulting firm Deloitte and became president of Chanel’s fashion division in 2004. He is also president of Chanel-owned swimwear brand Eres, president of its French division Chanel SAS, and president of Le19M, Chanel’s craftsmanship hub in the north of Paris.

The 63-year-old was named head of the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, French fashion’s governing body, in 2022 and was re-elected to the post in July.

His resignation from the board is the latest development in a succession plan set in motion five years ago by the Wertheimer family, which owns Chanel. Under Nair, the company has seen the departure of a rash of veteran executives including John Galantic, president and chief operating officer of Chanel Inc. since 2006.

Pavlovsky worked alongside Karl Lagerfeld until his death in 2019; Virginie Viard from 2019 to 2024, and Matthieu Blazy since April 2025.

Among his official honors, he was named an officer of the French Order of Merit for his services to fashion by French President Emmanuel Macron last year.

Chanel’s revenues rose 3 percent at reported exchange rates to $19.3 billion in 2025, representing an increase of 1.8 percent in comparable terms. According to unconfirmed reports, comparable sales rose 16 percent in the first half of 2026 as Blazy’s first collections hit stores.
