“The idea for this collection was a gardener, thinking about this woman who’s the gardener, and women like Bunny Mellon, Miranda Brooks and Grace Fuller,” Wes Gordon said of his latest collection for Carolina Herrera and seasonal muses. “These women who create beauty and also embody it — trying to integrate that into the collection.”

The collection was a floral-filled delight that spanned from beautiful feminine evening attire to a strong assortment of lifestyle wardrobing. The house’s signature glamour bloomed via hydrangea and peony embroidered or printed dresses in chiffon, crepe and organza, as well as via pretty engineered lace layers. Gordon expanded fall’s draped sculptural rosette attire on sharp black tailored layers that nicely bridged day to evening.

Throughout pre-fall, Gordon balanced the casual and polished, as seen through a roomy stretch cotton striped shirt layered beneath a navy Fair Isle sweater paired with a deep green floral embroidered cotton twill skirt, slightly toughened up with tall combat boots. Elsewhere, a stellar cropped bonded gabardine plaid jacket, embellished with little hand-appliquéd pink rosettes, felt just right for the transitional season worn with a beige belted cotton twill pencil skirt. 

Gordon noted the styles played into the workwear-meets-gardenwear aspect with the added “Herrera touch,” whicih could also be seen through the floral embroidered sleeves on a beige cotton twill chore jacket.

“Lots of happy, compelling, beautiful pieces, which is what any collection should be about in an overcrowded world,” Gordon aptly said of his lineup.
