Carlton Cole says Arsenal man has been a passenger on the team

Carlton Cole has joined the group of pundits and ex-players who have been criticising Bukayo Saka for his performances for Arsenal and insists he has been a passenger in most games. Saka is one of the first names on the team sheet at Arsenal and has continued to deliver top performances for the Gunners each time he plays.

The attacker is one of the players Mikel Arteta believes just has to play, and he gets significant minutes at the international level as well. However, as the highest earner at Arsenal, there have been questions about his contributions and consistency at the Emirates in recent months.

Cole’s Criticism of Saka’s Form

He has started this season strongly, but he has not reached his best heights yet, and the team needs him to as they battle Manchester City for the league title and several other clubs for the Champions League title. Arsenal trusts him, and we expect him to continue to get minutes, but Cole said via Team Talk:

“We have to look at Saka, I’m not sure man, he’s not doing it. I think he’s a little bit of a passenger at the minute and I hope that he does come good but he’s not quite there right now. I want him to do well and prove the haters wrong but his position is being questioned right now.”

The Pressure on Arsenal’s Star Man

Cole’s comments add to the scrutiny on Saka, whose standards have been exceptionally high in recent seasons. The winger’s influence on the team is undeniable, but the expectations that come with his status are equally demanding. The criticism will sting, but it could also serve as motivation.

Arsenal’s title ambitions depend on their key players performing at their peak, and Saka is central to that. The Gunners need him to find his best form quickly, especially with the challenges ahead. His ability to rise to the occasion has been proven before.

The debate around his form reflects the fine margins at the top of the game. Saka’s talent is not in question, but consistency is what separates good players from great ones. The coming weeks will show whether he can silence the doubters.

Arteta’s faith in the winger remains firm, and the manager will back him to deliver. The pressure is part of playing for a club with Arsenal’s ambitions. Saka’s response will be closely watched by fans and pundits alike.
