CAN 2025: Pape Thiaw reveals his ambition ahead of Senegal vs Egypt showdown

Speaking to the press yesterday, Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw outlined what he expects from his squad ahead of tonight’s clash against Egypt in the CAN 2025 semi-final.

This is a semi-final with all the intensity of a final, set to unfold this Wednesday evening between Senegal and Egypt. Coach Pape Thiaw stated yesterday that he intends to stick to Senegal’s “style of play” and admitted he is wary of Egypt’s mental strength and tactical discipline.

“We will play this match with respect and ambition. We know we’re up against a very strong team, used to this kind of high-stakes encounter. But we are determined to go all out for victory and reach the final, while remaining true to our style of play. We’ll be facing an Egyptian side with seven stars. They are Africa’s most decorated team in terms of honours,” he said.
