Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4’s extraction shooter mode has been revealed in full.
The proper launch of DMZ, first introduced as a beta years ago, is set in the new Korean map of Hajin following the events of the Modern Warfare 4 campaign. It will have its own story, a player bounty system, and dynamic weather.
This story will continue on the narrative of Modern Warfare 4 after the campaign, so the finer points of what will happen is still unknown. DMZ will also feature computer-controlled enemies that will coordinate and react to player actions, forcing players to tackle ground troops and enemy vehicles.
Players will be able to bump into the DMZ and take on either narrative-driven story missions, objective-focused operations, or free roam at their leisure.
The game mode will also feature a forward operating base for each player that can be upgraded to provide crucial services like a crafting station. There’s also a gunsmith, the firing range, and a boss board to help you track down challenging enemies.
There will also be a bounty board. Through playing DMZ, you’ll gain a bounty by completing objectives, killing other players, and engaging in other activities. This puts the operator (character) you used on the bounty board, and other players can claim this bounty by finding and taking you down within DMZ.
The DMZ mode will also feature its own progression system tied to characters you use. As you upgrade an operator, you’ll be able to unlock traits for them that improves their capabilities in DMZ.
