California primaries results: Governor’s race not yet projected

Polls have closed in California where voters went to the polls to cast ballots in races for the state’s governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state and attorney general as well as several House races while Los Angeles residents weighed in on the race for the city’s mayor.

ABC News projects that incumbent Mayor Karen Bass will advance to a runoff, though it is currently unclear which candidate she will face in the runoff election.

ABC News projects that State Sen. Scott Wiener will advance to the general election in the race to represent California’s 11th Congressional District, a seat which was previously held by Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. The Associated Press projects Connie Chan will also advance to the general election for the seat.

In California’s gubernatorial primary, Steve Hilton currently sits at 28% of the vote while Xavier Becerra has 25% and Tom Steyer has 20% with just about half of the vote in and the other half left to still be counted.
