British Airways Launches 7 Massive New Routes From Heathrow: See All Flights Now

British Airways revolves around London Heathrow Airport (LHR). The airline’s schedule submission to Cirium Diio shows that 80% of services are to/from the UK’s busiest airport. Of course, departures from London City Airport (LCY) involve BA CityFlyer, while most from London Gatwick Airport (LGW) use BA Euroflyer. CityFlyer also operates some services from regional UK airports.

In 2026, the oneworld member’s frames will be seen in 165 destinations from LHR. This figure includes some airports in the Middle East that were served until earlier this year but which have been suspended until 2027. It also includes a few routes that ended earlier in the year (such as Cologne, Jeddah, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, and Stuttgart), along with seven new and returning markets.

BA’s Seven Additional Routes From LHR In 2026

Cirium data was used to compare BA’s LHR network in 2025 with what is available in 2026. This process identifies the following seven additions. While unlikely, others may materialize for the upcoming winter. After all, on July 28, BA revealed that it’ll fly from LHR to Fuerteventura for the first time, replacing BA Euroflyer from LGW.

Notice Lambert St Louis International Airport (STL). STL last had flights to London in 2003, when American Airlines operated to LGW, having inherited the route from TWA. British Caledonian operated from LGW to STL in the more distant past. Along with the temporary operation from LHR to Orlando International Airport (MCO), along with the start of flights to Tampa International Airport (TPA), BA will serve a record 27 US airports from LHR this year.

An Initial Look At BA From LHR to GCI

On April 19, BA reintroduced flights from LHR to GCI, having last served the route in the 1980s. The airport pair was most recently available with the now-defunct Flybe in 2020. BA CityFlyer operated from LCY to GCI in 2021/2022, while BA CityFlyer Express flew from LGW to GCI until 2003.

Aurigny continues to fly between GCI and LGW, with up to seven daily departures during the summer aboard the ATR 72. BA’s daily offering looks minuscule in comparison. In fact, it is more than just that. BA runs during the middle of the day, leaving LHR at 11:55 and usually returning at 2:50 PM. This schedule mainly appeals to leisure visitors to either Guernsey or London and the small number of people who will connect to another flight at LHR.

The route is underpinned by funding from the State of Guernsey, just like Flybe’s short-lived operation was. UK Civil Aviation Authority traffic data for April 2026 and May 2026 (the latest month available) shows that BA transported 9,547 round-trip passengers in those two spring months. As Cirium data shows that BA had 13,084 seats for sale, 73% of seats were filled — rising to 80% for May. Given how new the route is, along with the funding, BA is probably happy with the initial results.

After BA Switched TPA To LHR, Virgin Atlantic Has Responded

BA has flown from LGW to TPA for decades. For the most part, it was the sole operator from the UK to the Florida destination. That changed in 2022, when Virgin Atlantic debuted from LHR, becoming the first time that LHR-TPA had been served. From October, that airport pair will now have two carriers.

In winter 2025/2026, Virgin mainly flew daily from LHR, while BA operated five times weekly from LGW. Things will be somewhat different in winter 2026/2027. While BA will have five weekly flights from LHR, Virgin’s offering has been reduced to three to four weekly departures.

In January 2027, for example, the pair now plan 18,512 round-trip seats for sale, down by 38% compared to last January. This is on the back of flights being reduced by 29%, with lower-capacity equipment to be deployed. At least the reduction should help improve both airlines’ load factors and yields to TPA.
