Atlanta Braves fans want Didier Fuentes back in the major leagues.

They may soon be getting their wish.
On Sunday, the Braves designated the former All-Star and World Series champion Martin Perez for assignment. That means Perez is removed from the 40-man roster and placed on waivers.
And with that move, Fuentes could join the picture for a soon-to-come turn through the rotation.

The 35-year old Perez has pitched in three games this season for the Braves, including two starts. In 14.1 innings pitched, he has a 3.14 ERA.
Given Perez’s veteran wisdom, it doesn’t seem the Braves would DFA him for some willy-nilly reason. It has to point to Fuentes, at least eventually.

Fuentes pitched 4.0 innings earlier this season for the Braves in one outing and had a 2.25 ERA.
The 20-year old won’t turn 21 until June 17 and is one of those young, fast-rising prospects that gets a fanbase fired up.
Given the Braves’ pitching injuries, it doesn’t make sense to keep Fuentes at Triple-A any longer. Perez has been moved out of the way. It seems that Fuentes’ time is just about here.
